Dolfans NYC Tailgate Video

November 8th, 2009

Hey guys! Sorry this is so late. It’s just been one of those weeks. So, I know everyone’s getting jazzed for the game against the Pats (I’m so excited!!), but I just wanted to go back to last Sunday for a second and talk about how ridiculously AWESOME that day was! And I was able to relive it while editing this video for you tonight.

Here’s a rundown of how the day went for me:
6:00am – Wake up – Get things ready for tailgate.
7:00am – Head over to the rental car place. Pick up my car. (I was fully prepared to swap it out if they pulled up with a Jet green car – thankfully that wasn’t necessary).
8:20am – Meet up with Jen, Jarrett, Igor, Brian and Alex. Start packing up the car.
8:40am – Kat and co pull up in their car (carrying the prized Dolphins beer pong table!)
8:45amam – Hit the road and drive out to the Meadowlands!
9:15am – Get to stadium, park in lot 16C near other Dolfans and start setting up shop.
9:30am – Send out text to DolfansNYC people to let them know where we were
9:30am – 12:30pm – Party like it’s 1999 at 16C. Complete with BBQ, Beer Pong, The Fight Song and a Beer Funnel!
1:00pm – Walk up to our seats – Last row of the stadium – approx 5 ft under the Goodyear blimp. 🙂
1:00pm – 4:00-ish pm – Watch the Miami Dolphins sweep the Jets….and Ted Ginn Jr make history!
4:30pm – 5:30pm – Hang out and celebrate with DolfansNYC
5:30pm – Drive back to the city
6:30pm – Return rental car
7:00pm – Bask in the glory of an incredible day and pass out from sheer exhaustion.
I hope you guys enjoy sharing in the fun of November 1st, by checking out the video.
GO DOLPHINS!!

New England Week

November 7th, 2009

This is the turning point in our season.  If we can beat the Cheatin’ Pats we can be 4-4 and just a game out of first place in the AFC East with a 4-0 division record.  If we win this game, we have a soft schedule ahead with a home game against the Patriots and only two other games against teams over .500. If we lose we are 3-5 and three games behind the Patriots.  This is a must win if there ever was must win in the first half of a season. And we might have to do it without Crowder and big Jason Ferguson. Yikes.

Now, to celebrate this momentous game DolfansNYC is throwing a party.  We are doing a big fundraiser for the game that hopefully you have heard about.  We are going to have 40 bracelets available for $10 each which get you delicious catered food and a raffle ticket.  We will also have raffle tickets available for $1 each. We know we have promised raffles before, but this time we are actually doing it. We have Dolphins signed items and some other random Dolphins stuff available. We are getting there at noon, and if the turnout is anything like the Saints game, the food is going to go fast, so get there early.

The proceeds from this fundraiser are going to be split between DolfansNYC and our adopted charity the I Will Foundation.  The goal of this club from the begining was not only to bring fans together to watch “the greatest football team” but to try to do some good.  We have spent a lot of money putting this thing together and are trying to recoup it so we can do more stuff for the club.  But on top of that we want to raise money for charity and the I Will Foundation is a foundation helping injured people that was started by the owner of Third & Long.

Anyway, Michelle is going to be there before the bar even opens decorating the place and setting everything up.  Come hungry, there is going to be a lot of food. It should be crazy so I hope to see you all out there.  I am in Texas at my cousins wedding but managed to find a flight that lands me in JFK at 1130. It will be a mad rush to Third & Long straight from the airport.  Let’s hope I make it.

Go Dolphins!

What’s Your Fantasy? Week 9

November 6th, 2009

I’m back again with my recommendations for Week Nine of the NFL season.  Check out the video for my apology to one of the most disrespected players in the league (hint: I may be wearing his jersey) and key players to stash for the stretch run.  As always, we’ve got photos, music, and humor to keep you entertained, plus an appreciative viewer sends me a gift for saving his season.  Go Dolphins!!

The Faces Of DolfansNYC

November 3rd, 2009

Welcome to another exciting edition of The Faces of DolfansNYC.  This time we interviewed fan club members at our big tailgate at the Meadowlands.  One of our members showed up on crutches.  That is dedication.  We will be interviewing people every week for this segment so come get interviewed on Sunday for our beat the Patriots DolfansNYC fundraiser at Third and Long.

Sweeeep!

November 2nd, 2009

The Dolphins took out the Jets yesterday and may have redeemed Ted Ginn at least for a few days. It was a great thing to watch and we were there.  DolfansNYC turned out in force and we helped take over the stadium. It was beautiful.  Besides the 30 tickets we bought as a group a ton of other members came out to tailgate and we had a blast.  We passed out nearly 300 flyers for the club, so I expect next Sunday’s tailgate party/fundraiser for the Pats game to be nuts.  We have worked it out so there will be a huge spread of food at Third and Long that you can gorge yourself on for $10 which goes to promoting the club and to Third & Longs charity the I Will Foundation.  But back to yesterday…

I took a ton of pictures of the tailgate and Michelle shot a lot of video. We will have two new videos going up this week and Michelle is going to give you her own recap of our tailgate party.  What a weekend.  Check out the pictures below and as always double click the slideshow to go to the Flickr page to download the images.

Dolphins Come To New York…

October 31st, 2009

It is that time of the year again when our beloved Dolphins travel to our home city to take on the hated Jests. DolFansNYC is bringing a group of thirty people to the game and we will be tailgating.  We don’t know where we will be yet, but if you email your phone number to dolfansnyc@gmail.com we will text you when we get to the Meadowlands and get set up.  We will also be posting a message on the Facebook group and be updating our Twitter with tailgate info. For those of you not coming to the game I have a feeling Third and Long will still be packed.  You might not have me yelling like a lunatic all day but I am sure someone will pick up the slack. Meanwhile, I will be getting throw out of Giants Stadium for kicking a Jets fan down a flight of stairs for using Chad Henne’s name in vain.

Anyway, since it is Jets week coming up, and we are all excited to run the Wild Cat up their asses, this is a perfect time to post my friend Dan Baxter’s video he made of us going nuts when Ronnie Brown took it into the end zone against the Jets during the last MNF game. I posted this in the Facebook group but haven’t posted it on the site yet.  The sound is a bit messed up, but I think you will enjoy it anyway. And remember, as always, J-E-T-S Suck Suck Suck!

What’s Your Fantasy: Week 8

October 30th, 2009

Once again I break down some of the fantasy winners and losers with my predictions for the upcoming week. In this video you’ll also find an apology for one bad pick from last week, which was thankfully offset by at least 5 good ones. Several surprises throughout the video include photos, music, humor and an attempt by DolfansNYC to sell its soul to a corporate sponsorship. Enjoy and Go Fins!!!

DC Does It Right!

October 29th, 2009

So this past weekend I found myself in the DC/Arlington area, visiting a friend of mine. I knew I wouldn’t be back in NYC in time for the Phins vs Saints game, so I went online and did a search to see if there was a DC equivalent to DolfansNYC, and I was psyched to find out that there was! Not only do they have a group of fans that get together for the games, they are an official fan club, fully recognized by the bar, who reserves the top floor just for the Phins fans! They have decorations on the walls and also conduct raffles. They even have their own “Igor” who is the designated first-down shouter for “That’s another Miami Dolphins…..” And, of course, they play the fight song after each touchdown. It really felt like a home away from home. The people were cool, the atmosphere was fun and the bar (Hard Times Café in Clarendon) was awesome. (They are famous for their chili.)

I met the president of their club, Zach, and we’ll be linking to his site and he’ll link to ours. NYC and DC are so close to each other and a lot of our members and theirs may find themselves looking for places to watch the games when they are visiting the other city. Look no further guys. And welcome to anyone from the DC/Arlington fan club that would like to stop in and enjoy a game with DolfansNYC!
Check out their website here and check out a little bit of video I shot below to give you a feel for the place.

The Faces Of DolfansNYC

October 28th, 2009
We’re introducing a new feature to the website, which will give you an opportunity to meet some of the people who come out to Third and Long to cheer on the Miami Dolphins. We’ve got an amazing group of people who gather every week to watch football and add to the atmosphere of the bar. If you haven’t joined us for a game, be sure to put it in your calendar. As you can see from our videos, the energy is high, the people kick ass and it’s always a good time here in NYC!
Stay tuned every week as we feature more of the faces of DolfansNYC.
Go Dolphins!

Moving Forward…

October 28th, 2009

Wednesdays are usually when I can start dealing with life after a Dolphins loss.  This one stung extra badly and every time I am reminded of football I get flashbacks to Drew Brees dismantling the Dolphins after the 28 best minutes of football the Dolphins have played in a decade. Can we get over this? Personally, I probably will be able to sleep 8 hours without having a nightmare involving a wide open Ted Ginn dropping a pass one day, but I am not sure the Dolphins can get back into the hunt.  They are now dead last in the AFC East with two tough division games.  If we can manage to win the next two games, things soften up quite a bit and we will be 4-0 in the division.  If we lose one of the next two, it is pretty much game over as far as 2009 goes. I still have hope.

I took a lot of photos before half time of the Saints game and you can check them out below.  People were in a joyous mood as we sang the Dolphins fight song until our throats hurt.  I want to look at these photos and pretend the thirty minutes that followed them never happened. If you click the slideshow below it will take you to Flickr where you can download the pictures for your Facebooks or Friendsters or whatever the kids are doing these days.
