The 2014 #MetLifeTakeover Videos Are Here!

#MetLifeTakeover

It took a bit too long to get these to you, but we are very happy with the results. We ended up making two different videos highlighting our 2014 #MetLifeTakeover events.

The first video is from the pre-party we did at Slattery’s Midtown Pub. It features interviews with Jay Fiedler, Solo D and my partner in Dolfan crime Michelle. Plus the whole thing is essentially a music video for the Dolfans NYC theme song that Solo D recorded for us. It gives you a good idea of the party we through the day before the #MetLifeTakeover. It was great day and we packed the bar with Phins fans from all over the place and the Dolphins weren’t even playing! Thanks to Jay Fiedler and the Dolphins for coming out, DJ Tropic for DJing, Solo D for performing and everyone who bid on our raffle and auction items! We raised a ton of money for charity.

Oh, and make sure you stick around for the credits!

[youtuber youtube=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BOZBJOgWTc’]

The second video I am really proud of and I know we are going to use it to recruit people for the #MetLifeTakeover next year! Despite the pouring freezing rain we still had 1200 people with us at the Jets game last December 1st and this video shows our impact in the stands. You could hear us loudly on TV and now you can see why if you missed the event. The tailgate was great and we actually got some decent footage despite having to scrap a bunch of our video plans because of the rain. Our camera guy could only shoot so much. Thanks to Miko Grimes and Andrew Abramson for stopping by and thanks to everyone who brought food and helped us tailgate! Big thanks to AquaHydrate for providing all the rally towels (and a ton of water) and thanks to Sailor Jerry for the rum that we made rum cider with.  O

And again, the credits are worth watching on this one too!

[youtuber youtube=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cL83QrWl04′]

I also have to thank Alex Bente and Greg Jeske for producing this video for us. Alex has been our host year after year despite his loyalty to the Ravens and Greg killed it both shooting and editing this video for us.

And lastly thanks to everyone who came and helped out at the #MetLifeTakeover. Share these videos everywhere and see you guys at the next #MetLifeTakeover!!

Apparently Football Continues

Despite the loss to the Bills last week that smashed all hope of a successful season right out of my brain, they keep playing football games. Losing the game was bad but losing Moreno for an extended period of time was worse and the way the oline played was icing on the cake of the terrible day. After beating the Pats with our o-line playing great and Moreno destroying things I had dreams that this team was better than average. Well the Bills put an end to that.

Now of course it’s only one game and this team is certainly capable of winning a bunch more this season, but it took me until Thursday to move past Sunday and if we beat the Chiefs on Sunday everything will be wonderful again. That’s just how sports work.

So, this post is pretty much just a post for posts sake. It’s a reminder that the game is at 4:25pm on Sunday and we will be rocking Slattery’s Midtown Pub as always. It’s a reminder to get your money in for the #MetLifeTakeover. It’s a reminder that you should buy stuff from our web store and it’s a reminder that this club has done a great job raising money for charity and our next big fundraiser is a week from Sunday when the Phins play the Raiders in London. Save your money because it’s gonna be a great event.

Oh, and if you are in Miami this weekend remember to wear aqua for the “Aqua Out” and make some damn noise!

Introducing The Dolfans NYC Web Store!

The first game of the year is tomorrow and I know everyone could not be more excited. I will probably get about two hours of sleep tonight. It’s like Christmas morning for adults! Slattery’s is going to be rocking tomorrow so make sure you get there early! The bar will be open at 11! It’s going to be amazing and in celebration of opening day we are launching the Dolfans NYC E-Shop!

As long as there has been a Dolfans NYC logo people have wanted t-shirts with that logo on it so of course we made t-shirts. Of course when that happened people who didn’t live in NYC wanted the shirts. For years we have said that the shirts were only available at Dolfans NYC events because we wanted people to have a reason to come to our watch parties. That was partly true, but the real reason is that I hate going to the post office and didn’t want to deal with any of the shipping. Michelle has a full time job and a baby and I run my own business. We just simply don’t have time to ship stuff.

Fortunately we found a solution! A friend of mine for nearly 20 years runs a small record label and record distribution company called Handstand Records and I pitched him the idea of selling some Dolfans NYC stuff for us. He is sending out shipments every day already and was open to the idea of selling our gear. Not only that but he built the web store for us!

So now you can get Dolfans NYC T-shirts anywhere in the world! (Looking at you Belgium!) Plus we have some new stuff this year like tote bags! Ooh! When it gets a little colder we plan on making some sweat shirts and reprinting the very popular Dolfans NYC beanies, plus we have some surprises in store! So keep checking back!

And remember all the money we make (after Handstand’s cut) goes back to the Dolfans NYC war chest which is used to buy more merchandise, throw bigger and better events and most importantly donate money to charity! We have donated nearly $10,000 to the Miami Dolphins Foundation alone! So spend some money, get some cool stuff and do some good!

So click here already and visit the Dolfans NYC Web Store!!

NYC Are You Ready For Week One?

Dolfans NYCHey Dolphins fans! The season starts in two days. I can’t even believe it! This is probably the best team of the Philbin era so I am hoping we have a great year. At the very least I know Dolfans NYC are going to have a lot of fun at Slattery’s Midtown Pub and Sunday will be no exception.

On the football side, I am a bit nervous about going up against the Patriots week one, but last time we played them we beat them so I am hoping week 1 will be no different. We got the heat on our side and our defensive line should put a hurting on Tom Brady… but they are still the Patriots and until we prove otherwise they are still the favorites to win this game.

But this week at Slattery’s is going to be a party no matter what! Make sure you get there early! The bar opens at 11am and it is sure to be packed! The bar has more TVs this year, updated menu and specials on food and drinks.

Plus we will be giving out discount cards f0r 10% off any time you come back to the bar not during a Dolphins game!

We are going to have DJ Tropic DJing EVERY game this year. If you made it out to one of our prime time games last year you know how much fun it’s going to be with him DJing. And don’t worry, he only DJ’s during the commercials and half time. We will still have the sound on the game.

Make sure to bring your wallets! We are having our biggest raffle ever this Sunday! The prizes are a surprise but there will be three prizes drawn every quarter and a 13th prize will be drawn at the end of the game and we can give that one away… it’s a signed Dan Marino ball! Plus everyone who wins will be given a Dolphins autographed commemorative ticket in addition to their prize! We have some pretty serious prizes picked out!

We also have all new merch this year! We ended up buying a bunch of shirts from a t-shirt company that went out of business so we have some very nice shirts, including some blue ones. We also have black shirts for the first time ever and we have tote bags! Oooh! In addition we have more merch planned for later in the season when it gets cold so be on the look out for that every Sunday at Slattery’s.

And remember, all the money we raise gets split between charitable causes and more great Dolfans NYC merch and events! We have raised more than $20,000 for charity in the last few years!

I will be taking photos for the website this week and we have some other surprises in store for you guys both this week and for later in the season.

2013 Wrap Up, #MetlifeTakeover Video & Super Bowl Plans

So things have not gone so well since I last updated. We lost back to back games including one to our hated rivals the Jets and one where I drove 8 hours to Buffalo to watch us get killed in freezing rain… at least I had great seats. We also had this great video from the #MetlifeTakeover but it wasn’t edited and ready to go until after the season was already over. Since then there has been a disastrous GM search and a Super Bowl in our city that I can’t even pretend to get excited about.

That being said, 2013 was a truly great year for Dolfans NYC. We found a new and improved home at Slattery’s Midtown Pub, raised thousands of dollars for various charities, threw the biggest away fan takeover in MetLife Stadium history and grew Dolfans NYC into a serious force in Dolphins fandom. The Dolphins new CEO even invited Michelle and I to watch a game in his box at SunLife. On top of that we really have created a family and even in horrible losses it’s been amazing to be around so many awesome Dolphins fans. There’s no place I would rather be than Slattery’s on Sunday and it makes the wins so much better and the losses sting a lot less.

This year we donated $3000 to the Miami Dolphins Foundation, sponsored two riders in the Dolphins Cycling Challenge, donated several hundred dollars to a breast cancer charity in October and made Christmas a lot better for two Dolphins fans who were injured in the Metro North train crash on the way to the #MetlifeTakeover. We also have raised a significant amount of money that’s sitting in the bank for next year. This money will be used to make more t-shirts, buy more prizes for our fund raising raffles and to make future charitable donations. This fundraising we do is truly the best thing about this for us. It means so much to be able to do something positive and have all this fun at the same time.

Michelle and I (and our many volunteers!) spend so much time on Dolfans NYC and people constantly thank us for all our work… but the truth is, we don’t need to be thanked. All this work is selfish. We do this because we want to have the best experience possible when watching Dolphins games and being able to watch every Sunday with 200+ passionate Dolphins fans or go to the Jets game with 760 of you guys is worth all the time and energy. So in reality I want to thank you guys for coming out and supporting what we do at Dolfans NYC!

Anyway, the Super Bowl is in NYC and I haven’t even checked out any of the events going on. So many Miami people are in town and I haven’t even gone down to Super Bowl Row. I feel like we should be doing more but Michelle is about to have a human child pop out of her and I am busy with work BUT, I just wanted to let everyone know that Slattery’s is going to be doing a big event for the Super Bowl.

Slattery’s is doing a $75 top shelf open bar with free appetizers upstairs  but it’s only $50 if you are wearing Dolphins colors! You can also watch the big game downstairs without having to pay for the open bar. Just pay as you go. I would love to watch the game with a bunch of Dolphins fans so let us know over on our Facebook page if you want to attend. Thanks!

Lastly, I wanted to finally get up our #Metlifetakeover video. This thing is so cool and I posted it on Facebook and Twitter but I never posted it on our actual page. I hope you guys get a chance to watch it because I really love this video. Thanks to Alex Bente and his crew for filming and editing this! Also thanks again to Sailor Jerry and PBR for sponsoring our tailgate.

Dolfans NYC Halloween Party Pix!

On Thursday Dolfans NYC threw a big Halloween party and the Dolphins won in miraculous fashion as Cam Wake sealed the game with only the third overtime safety in NFL history. Another great half was wasted with another poor third quarter but Ryan Tannehill made the plays he had to make to lead the team to a game tying field goal with seconds left in regulation. When the safety happened Slattery’s Midtown Pub erupted and we had free shots all around. The Dolphins broke the Bengals winning streak and ended their own losing streak and we partied.

We had DJ Tropic DJ again and he killed it all night. We had a costume contest as the three finalists battled it out via Instagram to see who would get the most likes. Mr. McGibblets out beat Ricky Williams by one vote and Joe Philbin came in a distant third. I loved the Philbin costume but after four straight losses he didn’t get a lot of love. My pajama wearing “Tired Of Losing” costume got the most votes but of course I was not eligible and Mr. McGibblets walked away with a hat signed by OJ McDuffie and Sam Madison. Mr. McGibblets also promised he would be coming to our #MetLifeTakeover on Dec 1st in full costume!

The next Dolphins game is a Monday night game against the Bucs and we will be having DJ Tropic in the house again as well as a huge raffle. We also will have our new DolfansNYC hats for sale again. I hope you guys get a chance to pick one up. Hope to see you guys then.

And lastly, before we get to the pictures I wanted you guys to check this video from the “Miami Dolphins Web Weekend” that the Dolphins posted on their site. DolfansNYC got a lot of love in it and special mention of the $3000 we donated to the Miami Dolphins Foundation. Thanks to you guys for our opportunity to do so much in the way of charitable donations!

Now check out the Halloween party photos from Slattery’s Midtown Pub below. Double click to open em in a new window so you can save them to your computer!

Monday Night Photos

On Monday we had a huge party at Slattery’s Midtown Pub! The Dolphins were playing great football for 28 minutes before it all went to hell right before the two minute warning, but such is life. It’s a long season and you aren’t going to win every game. Fortunately, even with the loss Dolfans NYC had a great time. We had one of our original founding members DJ Tropic spin during commercials and it worked out really well. Even late in the game we were at least enjoying the music, food and the company. People stuck around and even celebrated and sang the fight song on the garbage time TD. I also noticed a ton of rational positivity on our Facebook page. It’s great to be around Phins fans who aren’t screaming Fireland this and Tannehill sucks that. I really love this group.

Both floors of the bar were packed. It’s great to see so many people show up when the game is on TV. We have really made an event of it. We had a big raffle and sold t-shirts and ended up raising over $1200 for charity. It was really amazing. The two big prizes in the raffle were a Bob Griese signed hat and another hat signed by Tannehill, Hartline, Jimmy Wilson and Austin Spitler. Two cool things happened with that. Our member Bryan who had donated the Tannehill/Hartline hat actually won the Griese hat. It was great to see since not only has he been a big supporter of the club but he also lost 90% of his Dolphins memorabilia collection in Hurricane Sandy last year. The other cool thing was that Austin Spitler got resigned today so all four people who signed the hat are actually still on the Phins.

Anyway, I took a bunch of pictures, even after we were getting beat on pretty badly. I hope you guys dig them. If you want to save one just double click the gallery below and it will take you directly to our Flickr page. Phins up!

Dolfans NYC Draft Event

Sorry we have been distant.  This lockout is getting to us!  But we have some details about our most exciting draft event.  Dolfans NYC is going to roll deep and we want you to come with us!

Though there is some uncertainty as far as the upcoming season, the show must go on. And in this case, the show is the 2011 NFL Draft! The Dolphins have the 15th pick and it’s anyone’s guess as to what they plan on doing with it.

Who’s in?!?!

Here’s the deal….

WEDNESDAY, April 27th – Fans can line up at Radio City Music Hall starting at 10pm. At midnight, wristbands will be given at a first come, first served basis.

THURSDAY, April 28th – Fans with a wristband can line up at 6:00pm to receive their tickets. Please note that tickets have seating assignments on them, so the plan is for us all to go together!

So….on Wednesday, let’s meet up at 8pm, which should be early enough to get a good spot in line. For anyone who has been to the Draft before, it’s nearly impossible to join your friends once they line up, so it’s important that we all line up together. Radio City is on 50th and 6th. There’s a Magnolia Bakery on the corner of 49th and 6th. Let’s meet there at 8:00pm and walk over together to line up.

On Thursday, let’s meet up at that same Magnolia Bakery at 6:15pm so we can walk over and get tickets with seats together. The tickets are given out in a random order so showing up early doesn’t give you an advantage.
