#MetLifeTakeover FAQ

The #MetLifeTakeover is organized by two people who have full time jobs and busy lives outside of Dolfans NYC. We spend hundreds of hours working on this stuff for you guys and we do it all for the love of the Dolphins. To make everyone’s lives easier we have created this huge list of Frequently Asked Questions & other information, so please read it before contacting us.

What is the #MetLifeTakeover?

The #MetLifeTakeover is an annual group trip to MetLife Stadium when the Dolphins play the New York Jets organized by Dolfans NYC. This year the Dolphins are playing the Giants at MetLife and we will be throwing a smaller, BYOO tailgate before that game as well.
The 2019 JETS #MetLifeTakeover takes place on Sunday, December 8th, 2019 which is week 14 of the NFL season. The GIANTS game is the following week on December 15th, 2019. The Takeover consists of a massive group ticket purchase and a huge tailgate party before the game, HOWEVER we are only doing group tickets to the Jets game.

Fun Fact:We hold the record for the largest group ticket purchase in MetLife Stadium history!

What is Dolfans NYC?

Dolfans NYC is a New York City based Miami Dolphins fan club. We are officially recognized by the Miami Dolphins and we happen to be the biggest Dolphins fan club on the planet. We were founded in between the 2008 and 2009 NFL seasons by Michelle Stark Kramers and Nate “Igor” Smith. Aside from organizing the #MetLifeTakeover we also throw weekly Dolphins watch parties at Slattery’s Midtown Pub in Manhattan. Dolfans NYC is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit and through our events and merch sales we have donated tens of thousands of dollars to charity. The Miami Dolphins have awarded us the “Best Community Site” at their annual Web Weekend for the past 5 years.

Ticket Information:

  • You can purchase tickets to the #MetLifeTakeover here.
  • Tickets to the Jets game are $70 but they are only $60 if you order before August 15th. We are paying slightly less for ticket this year and are passing those savings to early bird purchasers because the sooner you order, the easier it is for us.
  • There is a $3 “shipping” fee on every order to help cover the PayPal transaction fee. There is no actual shipping, you will get your tickets via email.
  • We don’t give out the exact section information because we want to encourage people to buy with us, but they are in the corner upper levels.
  • Take it from us, sitting with 1000 Dolfans in the nose bleeds is a lot more fun than sitting in the 100 level surrounded by Jets fans.
  • Check your spam filters for your email confirmation letter!
  • Tickets will be delivered via e-mail within three weeks of purchase. We process and deliver each ticket individually. Please be patient.
  • Once you pay for your tickets, your seats will be assigned, so if you want to sit with someone buying tickets please make sure you and your friends purchase at the same time and let us know you want to sit together.
  • Starting last year, the NFL has gone mobile and no longer accepts PDF printed tickets. You must have your ticket downloaded to your phone. You can read more about that HERE.
  • For group ticket purchases, every 10 tickets you buy, you get one free. You must contact us at dolfansnyc@gmail.com before purchasing tickets to get the free ticket.
  • Free #MetLifeTakeover thunder sticks while supplies last with purchase of ticket! We will be giving them away at the merch booth at the tailgate. Don’t blow them up until just before kick off.

Tailgate Information:

  • For years we hosted tailgates on our own but it just became too big for us to do ourselves.
  • Starting in 2017 we have been partnering with a company called Urban Tailgate and it’s been amazing.
  • They offer all you can eat and drink for $85, but they have offered Dolfans NYC a $20 off coupon: DOLFANSNYC2019
  • There is also a non alcoholic option for $45 and a $10 off coupon: FINSUP
  • Coupons expire November 25th! Tickets will be available day of but for $100!
  • Menu includes, but not limited to: Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Sausages, and Veggie Burgers.
    Chicken Scarpiello, Chicken Parm, Sausage and Peppers, Slow cooker BBQ pulled pork, Eggplant Rollatini, Eggplant Parm, Penne a la Vodka, Penne Pesto, Mac and Cheese, Pasta Salad, Variety of Hot and Cold Appetizers, and much more!
  • Both tailgates begin at 9am and goes until the game begins.
  • You are welcome to BYO and come hang out with us even if you don’t pay for the Urban Tailgate experience. The more the merrier!
  • The tailgate is in Bus Lot 4. If you drive you need a Yellow Parking pass to get as close as possible to us.
  • We don’t sell parking passes but they are available on the NFL Ticket Exchange or most other ticket sites.
  • We will have music, special guests, raffles, and of course our Dolfans NYC merch for sale.
  • Tailgate tickets are available day of but remember the price goes up to $100 after November 25th.

Transportation from Slattery’s:

  • We offer round trip buses to both games from Manhattan for $40.
  • Bus seats are limited and will sell out.
  • Buy your seat on the bus here.
  • You will not receive a ticket, but you will be on a list when you show up at Slattery’s.
  • We will be leaving from Slattery’s at 8am sharp. Please arrive by 7:30am to sign in and get your wristband.
  • Buses will be returning immediately after the game so please head directly back once the game ends.
  • Coffee and bagels will be provided for free at Slattery’s starting at 7am.
  • Feel free to bring coolers or chairs, etc. (No propane tanks!) There is room under the bus, but we are not responsible for lost or stolen times.

Other Transportation:


  • Unfortunately we don’t offer any group hotel rates or anything like that.
  • Most hotels in Manhattan are a fairly inexpensive cab/Uber ride to Slattery’s if you are taking the bus with us.
  • There are plenty of hotels near the stadium as well, but no we don’t know where the Dolphins are staying. Sorry.

Payment Information:

  • When paying for tickets and bus tickets we only accept payments online via our website here.
  • We use PayPal but you DO NOT need a PayPal account to pay. You can sign up as a guest and use a credit card.
  • No we do not accept Venmo or the Cash App or cash or checks or Bitcoin or anything else, please don’t ask. Thanks.
  • Remember that all tailgate stuff is handled by Urban Tailgate so if you have any questions on that end contact them via the tailgate event page.


  • Tickets are NOT refundable, but if something unexpected happens let us know and we can try and help you sell them to a fellow Dolphins fan.
  • Do NOT list your ticket on the secondary market. We don’t want Jets fans sitting with us. Try selling them on our Facebook page.
  • The NFL’s flex schedule means that games after week 5 can have their times changed by TV networks. There is a chance either game could be played at 4pm or even (extremely unlikely) 8:25pm. If this happens everything will still go on as planned only pushed to later. Expect an email with exact details if they announce a change. Plan accordingly as we offer no refunds.

Inside The Stadium:

  • No fighting! No excessive drinking, etc! The Jets keep having us back and we want that to continue. Please be responsible.
  • We have a couple rows specifically reserved for families. If you have young kids and would prefer to be in the Family Friendly rows (ie, hopefully less cursing), please let us know NO LATER than August 15th.
  • Make sure you have a clear bag if you want to bring anything to a game. We will have Dolfans NYC branded clear bags for sale if you need them.
