It’s A Monday Night Party!

Sunday, September 29th, 2013

Tomorrow night the Dolphins get their first prime time football game of the year and we couldn’t be more excited! All the experts are picking the Saints to beat us but the Phins are looking to prove them wrong. Honestly, I don’t even think we mach up very well against the Saints, but after seeing Cleveland and Indianapolis win big today maybe the Dolphins are even better than I expected. A win tomorrow would be huge, but win or lose we are going to have a party in NYC!

This week at Slattery’s Midtown Pub we are having a pretty great event happening. Starting an hour before kick off have Dolfans NYC member  and party time DJ Tropic playing Miami hits during commercials and half time. Hopefully he will be playing our fight song all night long. We also have a big raffle happening with all the money going to charity. We are going to be giving away a hat signed by Bob Griese, another autographed item and at least three other Dolphins prizes. As always Dolphins fans get happy hour drink prices and our own menu for the game. It should be a lot of fun.

On top of that the Direct TV is finally up and running at Slattery’s so there shouldn’t be any TV problems from this moment forward. Everything will be in HD and looking awesome. I will be taking photos of everyone for the website AND we are getting a new batch of DolfansNYC T-shirts in so if we were out of your size last week or you haven’t had a chance to pick up a shirt yet we will have them for sale Monday.

The bar should be packed tomorrow so come out early and party with us all night long. I hope you guys are ready for some football!

Week One Pictures!

Yesterday was amazing! We had so many people packed into our new home, Slattery’s Midtown Pub, that we took over both floors, not just the upstairs like planned. The only problem was the bar wasn’t quite prepared for the insane turnout so they were understaffed and it took forever to get food and drink. Fortunately, they know the deal now and will have plenty of staff on hand moving forward. The bar was amazed at the turnout and we are going to get all the kinks worked out and make this the best experience possible. All the problems aside, the day was so great and I know everyone had a fantastic time. So pumped moving forward.

Michelle and I are both out of town for work next week but Alex will still have the shirts to sell, and I am sure someone will take over for me as far as screaming like an insane person all day. But we will be back for the Falcons  game and we will plan something special for the Monday night Saints game!

Anyway, I took a bunch of photos at our meet up yesterday so check them out. If you want to save a photo or something just click the slideshow below and it will open in a new window!

Ready For Some Football?

Thursday, September 5th, 2013

Dolfans NYC T-ShirtOh man! I am watching real football as we I type this. The Ravens have a first and goal against the Broncos in the first quarter and that’s a touchdown. Vontae Leach scored the first TD of the regular season. He could have been a Dolphin.  Anyway, the Dolphins play their first game this Sunday and I couldn’t be more excited. I don’t have much interest talking about the upcoming Browns game, there are a million sites you can read about that, but I wanted to talk about the upcoming Dolfans NYC watch party.

First of all I want to remind everyone that we are now watching games at Slattery’s Midtown Pub on 36th St between 5th Ave and Madison. If you haven’t heard, 3rd & Long closed it’s doors after 22 years in business. It’s amazingly depressing, but fortunately we found Slattery’s and Slattery’s is going to be a fantastic home base for Dolfans NYC.

Slattery’s is only a few blocks away from 3rd and Long but it’s a lot closer to both Grand Central Station and Penn Station. They are giving us happy hour drink prices and designed a menu with us in mind. Everything from your standards like wings and cheeseburgers to Miami favorites like a Cuban sandwich and menu items named after the Dolphins like the Ricky Williams veggie burger. On top of that free shots when the Dolphins win. It’s also a much bigger place with a lot more seats and a lot better sound. It’s going to be amazing.

A few other notes about the bar… There is street parking on Sundays and after 7pm so we should be good as far as that goes unless we get a Saturday playoff game. So let’s hope we have to deal with that problem. The bar is also ALL AGES so if you have kids who are Dolphins fans you are welcome to bring them, but be warned, it is impossible to get certain members (me) not to scream obscenities at the TV so be warned. Also, I wanted to mention that the bar is ONLY showing the Dolphins game upstairs. Downstairs they will be playing the local game but that’s it. We are going to try to get a Redzone TV upstairs but other than that it’s all Dolphins all the time. So if you bring a friend who’s expecting to watch another game, they might be disappointed. Other than that, this place is perfect, and honestly I don’t think I am going to miss non Phins fans hanging out at our bar…

With a new bar and a new logo comes new t-shirts. We got brand new Dolfans NYC t-shirts that will be available on game days starting with Sunday at Slattery’s. They are grey tri-blend shirts that are amazingly comfy and even come in women’s sizes. We spent a TON on these new shirts so the price is gonna go up to $20 but all the money goes to charity (and to making more Dolphins stuff). We got stickers, buttons and bracelets coming soon, and hopefully they will be here by Sunday but no promises. Lot’s of cool stuff this year.

Anyway this year should be amazing on the field and here at Dolfans NYC. Hope to see you guys at Slattery’s!
