Shopping Cart Troubleshooting
Dolfans NYC was founded in 2009 and unfortunately our website was also built around the same time. We had plans for a site redesign but 2020 messed all that up. We have been prioritizing giving to charity instead of spending money on a website, but we finally reached a breaking point when the #MetLifeTakeover shopping cart plugin started giving us all sorts of problems. We spent a full week trying to fix it and have had no luck and we need to move on to selling tickets before we redo our entire ecommerce system so we created this troubleshooting guide in case you run into some trouble.
Our shopping cart system is working for most people. We sold 150 tickets on the first day we launched so we know things are working, but for a small percentage of people the cart isn’t adding the correct items into the shopping cart, or sometimes it won’t add anything. It’s very weird and we have no idea why it’s happening. If you are having that issue, here’s a few things to try.
- The absolute first thing you should try is use a different browser. Chrome worked for me, while Safari didn’t. People have had luck on their phone, or had problems on their phone and it worked on a desktop. Try to find a browser where works and then you don’t have to move on to step 2.
- I have found a weird work around. Add everything into your cart that you want even if it’s not showing up. After that add some items that you don’t want. Once something shows up in your cart, delete one of the items and suddenly the correct items should be there. You might have to delete more or change the quantities, but you can get it to work if you keep messing with it. I know this is a terrible option, but we don’t know what else to do.
- Before you check out, make sure you have the correct items in your shopping cart. We have had a few people accidentally order random things they didn’t want. We will refund you of course, but best to double check.
If after following these steps you are still having trouble, please email us at dolfansnyc@gmail.com and we can help you.
Again, we are so sorry for this and hopefully we can get it fixed and get a whole new website, but I have a feeling that is going to take a while so for now this is the best bet. If you do web design and would offer a charity/Dolfans friendly rate, please reach out at the email above. Thanks so much!
