MetLife Takeover

The DolfansNYC tailgate and takeover was the most successful thing we have ever done as a club. We bought 200 tickets, rolled up to the stadium in two packed busses and were pretty much the only fans left at the end of the game. It was amazing. There had to have been more than 300 fans at the tailgate and we sold out of EVERY Dolfans NYC t-shirt and raised a bunch of money for charity. We plan on donating $1500 to the Miami Dolphins Foundation when Michelle and I head down to Miami for the Titans game in two weeks. Really great experience.

If you somehow missed the news we had a few special guests at the tailgate… Dolphins owner Stephen Ross showed up with minority owner Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, CEO Mike Dee, Phins great Nat Moore, MiamiDolphins.com Andy Kent and a ton of cheerleaders. It was so cool of them to do that and a pretty good PR move. Some Jets fan hit Mr. Ross with a cheeseburger knocking his glasses off. Luckily they fell right at my feet and as soon as Ross got his glasses back on he just ignored the whole thing and kept posing for pictures and signing autographs. One of our members asked him why he came down and he said “I could have stayed in my box all game but I had to check out the tailgate. This is the biggest Dolphins fan club in the United States!” Very cool.

After the tailgate we filled the stands. We may have been in the endzone in the nosebleeds but I assure you our presence was felt. Mike Dee tweeted after the game “Great to head home w/a win. Complete team effort w/ an assist from DolfansNYC, who kept the Fins chants going all game long!” Reggie Bush didn’t mention us by name but he Tweeted “Loved the Dolphins fans showing up today! We heard you guys loud and clear and so did the rest of the stadium! Thanks for your support.” Not to brag or anything (okay maybe a little) I was leading the chants from the endzone. By the end of the game all the Jets fans were gone and the Dolphins fans left seemed to flood into our sections and we chanted “LET’S GO DOLPHINS” so loudly you could hear it on TV. It was one of the best experiences of my life. What a great day.

I want to thank everybody who came out, and especially want to thank my partner Michelle who did all the dirty work on this one. I am pretty good at doing the promoting and doing the screaming but Michelle is the best party planner you could imagine and put all 199 tickets we bought on her credit card. We have worked on this for months, but she busted her ass all week on the details while I was off hanging out with my girlfriend in California. So thanks Michelle, thanks to Sailor Jerry rum for sponsoring the tailgate, thanks to Third & Long for hosting a breakfast before we got on the buses, thanks to everyone who joined us at the game and thanks to the Miami Dolphins organization for not just recognizing us but supporting us.

All the pictures I took at the tailgate are below. If you want to save one just double click it or you can just go directly to our Flickr page to see and save all the pictures there.

Go Dolphins!

Dolfans NYC At The Meadowlands – All The Info You Need!

Everybody all over the Miami Dolphins world is talking about Dolfans NYC this week. As many of you know we bought 199 tickets to the Jets Dolphins game on the 28th as a group and then TONS more of our members bought tickets in sections 323 and 322. Those sections might be in the nosebleeds but they will be bleeding Aqua and Orange. All our tickets are gone and the two buses we are taking to the stadium are completely full but it’s not too late to hang out with us at Met Life Stadium.

DolfansNYC @ The Meadowlands

If you DON’T have tickets: Try NFL Ticket Exchange or Stub Hub and try to get seats in 323 and 322. Our rows are in the high teens so if you an find anything in the middle of the section you will be surrounded by Phins fans.

If you DO have tickets and just want to tailgate with us we are rolling in two buses at 10AM and will be parking in the charter bus lot in Lot L. If you look at  this map we will be in the little blue rectangle in lot L. We have several members that are going to get there the second the gates open and hold a spot down. Our buddy from the Ohio Dolfans club will be bringing with him his 28 foot flag pole so you should be able to find us pretty easily.

If you are tailgating with us we sugest you bring your own food and drinks. We are providing food and drinks for the people who have already paid us and who are riding the bus with us and will probably have some stuff left over but we don’t want to run out so bring something! If you have a grill and tailgating stuff bring it! The 200+ Phins fans we are rolling with will appreciate it. We are going to have a few grils but the more stuff the better!

The fun stuff: We have a bunch of fun stuff going on at the tailgate aside from food, drinks and antagonizing Jets fans. We are going to be raffling a bunch of Dolphins autographs and other stuff at the tailgate. The Dolphins actually sent us some cool stuff to raffle plus we have a bunch of our own stuff. All the money raised will be donated to the Miami Dolphins Foundation and possibly a couple other charities. The raffle will be held at noon at the buses. We also will have Dolfans NYC t-shirts there as well with profits going to charity as well. We also are going to be video taping and photographing the event so don’t be surprised if you end up all over the Miami Dolphins fan sites. We are doing a huge group picture at 12:15pm so meet us there for it! Solo D will be joining us at the tailgate, so you might end up in a rap video as well…

More information: If you still have questions reach out to us at dolfansnyc@gmail.com or @doflansnyc on Twitter. You can also talk to us and more NYC Phins fans over on our Facebook page. We will be updating our Facebook and Twitter with our EXACT location as soon as we get to the Meadowlands so check one of them when you roll into the stadium gates.

So that’s all I have for you. It has been an honor to run Dolfans NYC and I know Michelle feels the same way. She has been busting her ass organizing all of this and we couldn’t be more excited. As you know we give all the money we make to charity because we do this for the love. And not just for the love of the Dolphins but for the love of the Dolphins fan. It’s been so amazing to meet so many people who love the Dolphins as passionately as we do and this Jets trip every year is the most fun thing we do. Win or lose (we are going to win of course) it’s amazing to be there with so many Phins fans and this is going to be our biggest crowd yet. I am going to leave you with two videos. The first is a video from our first Dolfans NYC tailgate with only 30 of us. Just imagine what 200 is going to look like. The second video is Solo D’s new song about the Phins/Jets game this week. He reps our bar Third & Long and shouts out Dolfans NYC. He came with us last year and knows how much fun it is to party with Dolfans NYC.

See you guys soon. Go Dolphins!

Dolfans NYC At The Draft!

Hey guys!

Thank you for your patience while we sorted out our plans to attend Round 1 of the Draft.

Looks like the NFL is organizing wristbands/tix the same way they did last year. On Wednesday, fans line up in the evening and the NFL says that they will give wristbands at midnight. (last year they did it a little sooner). On Thursday, fans with wristbands line up and are given their tix a little after 6pm.
With that said, here is the DolfansNYC meet-up plan….

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25th – Meet at 8:00pm on 6th Avenue between 49th and 50th. There is a giant fountain on the west side of the street. Let’s meet in front of the fountain in the middle of the block.

At approximately 8:10pm, the group will walk across the street to Radio City so that we can line up together, so please don’t be late. The security guards are pretty strict and don’t usually let people jump in line with their friends, so it’s best we walk over together.

THURSDAY, APRIL 26th – Meet at 6:00pm at the same spot in front of the fountain. At 6:10pm we will walk over together to line up and get our tix. Again, please do not be late.

Please reply to this e-mail if you 100% know that you will be there so we can make a list of how many people to expect at the meet-up spot. We will have access to Facebook and e-mail, so if your plans change and you can’t make it or are running late, please post something on the DolfansNYC Facebook page or send a note to us here at dolfansnyc@gmail.com

Thanks and see you Wednesday!!

Dolfans NYC In The News

I just wanted to make sure you guys saw this Sun Sentinel article from last week talking about “roving Miami Dolphins fans” who go to away games. The article talks about Dolfans NYC and they interviewed me and used a bunch of my photos for the article. It was pretty cool. One of the photos was on the front page of the business section last week. I meant to blog about it then but I ran out of time and then we lost the Eagles game and I was caught up in the whole Tony getting fired thing and I forgot about it.

Dolfans NYC Vs The New York Jets

It is after 6am right now and I am just going to bed getting ready to wake up in 5 hours and head down to Third and Long to watch the Dolphins sweep the Bills for the first time in a while and climb out of the cellar in the AFC East. I hope to see you all out there.  We only have a few games left and I know a lot of people won’t be around for the Christmas eve game. Anyway, we have an event planned for the Jets game on New Years Day that I will let you know about soon but until then, let’s get crazy tomorrow.  Go Dolphins!

The Dolfans NYC Anthem!

This week is about the craziest week you could have in a Dolphins offseason.  From the lockout news, to Brandon Marshall getting stabbed, to the tragic news about Jim Mandich to the excitement of the NFL Draft, Dolphins news has come pouring in this week in a normally slow spring.  Dolfans NYC didn’t want to be left out in all of this so aside from having our draft meet up tonight we bring you some exciting news.  Dolfans NYC has a theme song!

After hearing all the amazing songs Solo D put together every week for Dolphins games I reached out to him to do a song for us. We talked about it all off season but told him I didn’t need anything until the draft. I just figured if we were going to have a draft party we needed some tunes.  Solo D asked me for some information about the club so he could write some lyrics.  I told him about Third & Long and about the regulars and stuff, but I also told him that part of being a Dolphins fan in NYC is going to battle every day with Jets fans.  Solo took that idea and ran with it. He took the music from Jay Z’s “Empire State Of Mind” and gave it a new meaning.  Check the lyrics and then download the song!

Oh and Solo D is always willing to write songs for Dolphins fans at a discount because he the team and wants to do his part to help Dolphins Nation. So if you got an idea for something, hit him up!
